The Fixing Father Child Support Grant program is a unique initiative aimed at helping fathers who are in arrears and struggling to meet their child support obligations. This program is designed not just to alleviate financial burdens but also to educate, motivate, and restore dignity to fathers caught in this challenging situation.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
-Be currently employed.
-Have a child support arrears of $500.00 or more.
-Successfully complete two mandatory courses: a Financial Literacy course and a Fathering Responsibility course.
Successful completion of these courses will result in a certificate of completion being awarded to the participant along with a monetary grant from $500 to $2000
Grant Benefits
Once a father has successfully completed the required courses, the grant money will be sent directly to the child support unit to reduce the outstanding debt. This approach does not only assist the father by decreasing his debt, but also benefits the mother by providing the much-needed funds, and ultimately, the child.
The Fixing Father Child Support Grant program adopts a holistic approach intended to benefit the entire family unit. It aims to restore dignity, increase motivation and self-esteem in fathers, and ensure the well-being of children.
Long-term Goals
The primary goal of this program is to help fathers maintain a current, up-to-date child support balance. By assisting fathers to catch up on overdue payments and providing education on maintaining regular payments, we hope to create a cycle of financial responsibility and stability that benefits the entire family unit.
This program is a testament to our commitment to supporting families, fostering responsible parenthood, and promoting financial literacy. Together, we can make a difference.
