THE CHEERFUL GIVER

Hello to my Fixing Fathers Family. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dr. David Lee Asbery.  I’m the President of Fixing Fathers, Inc.  Today, I would like to talk to you about the joy of giving.  I know that this sounds corny but bear with me. I promise to keep this short.

My decision to convert Fixing Fathers, Inc., into a Non-Profit Organization was one of the best decisions ever.  It has enabled me to meet so many wonderful people.  For example, as word got out that I officially had Non-Profit status, (2017) a person (who will remain nameless)  donated $5000.00 to Fixing Fathers, Inc.  This angel believed in my passion, my vision, and my mission.  Because of his donation, I have been working hard to prove that he is right.

During this journey, I have had some highs (Dr. Asbery, your request for our grant was approved.)  and I have had some lows (Sorry Dr. Asbery, we went with another organization) Through all of this, one thing has always remained the same, and that is the feeling that I get when I am able to help someone.  At Fixing Fathers, Inc., this is what keeps us going.  Being able to talk and empower a group of men, or walk up to someone and give them something of value, is gratifying.

Yesterday, while leaving the garage, I handed this brother 25 cloth masks. The look on this man’s face, made me so damn happy, and it once again confirmed that what we are doing here at Fixing Fathers, is good, is just, is needed, and is of value to the community.

So, here is the ask.

If you are looking for a non-profit that helps fathers to be better fathers, that works with kids and teaches them the importance of reading, who works with our young students who are interested in going to college, who gives to the community, from masks, gloves, sanitizing solution to chess sets.  If you are looking for a non-profit that is full of passion and promise and an organization that you can trust, please consider us and donate to Fixing Fathers, Inc.  I promise that your donation will go to good use in helping the communities that we serve.  If you would like to learn more about Fixing Fathers, please visit us at fixingfathers.org. or you can call me at 718-288-0768.

 With love,

Dr. David Lee Asbery
